John and I started this adventure about three years ago. We met a true rockhound, Dee Peters, and she had John hand polish a piece of white onyx. She gave him kit that had sandpaper and polishing components. When he passed her inspection, she then gave us a vintage flat lap to cut and polish with. That then led us to buying our next pieces of equipment..a 8" slab saw and a Genie. We started out doing cabachons, but felt restricted, so started doing freeforms that are domed and polished on both sides. Each pendant is ready to wear.
Luck struck again for us. We met our mentor on the internet, Will Self, he has supplied us with materials and his equipment ( Titan and buffer). Without Will and his wife Diana we would not be where we are today. They still rockhound and supply us with beautiful material and hand knap Obsidian points.
Last May 2007 we decided to do this full time and have never looked back. The response has been wonderful. We do festivals on weekends and have private shows.
A special thanks to David Dean for all of his help and encouragement.
We feel very blessed to be able to work with Mother Natures bounty. To cut into a rock and find the beauty within. To see the smiles upon the faces that wear our pieces is truly a dream come true.
